360 degree panoramic dome camera - Hikvision PanoVu series

According to the newest report from HIS Inc., Hikvision retained as the number one video surveillance equipment manufactuer in the global market. In this year, Hikvision launched various new products that employing different new technology, among them including PanoVu, Turbo HD 3.0 and High performance thermal camera series.

PanoVu series are panoramic cameras leveraging the latest stitching technology. This new product portfolio including DS-2DP1636Z-D, DS-2DP0818Z-D, DS-2CD6986F-(H), DS-2DP1636-D models. All of them use multi-lens structure to capture panoramic video, DS-2DP1636Z-D and DS-2DP0818Z-D integrated with a PTZ camera to provide optical zoom and auto tracking function.

1# PanoVu series DS-2DP1636-D panoramic camera

In this article, we mainly introduce you the DS-2DP1636-D panoramic camera. DS-2DP1636-D is a panoramic dome camera employing 8 independent 1/1.9” 2-megapixel progressive scan CMOS image sensor + lens, this camera can capture ultra high definition video with 2x 2400*3840 resolution at 30 frames per second. 

This camera adopts full-sealed design, when open its top cover, we can find a gasket dedicated for waterproof. This camera offers IP67 ingress rate, including TVS 6000V lightning protection, surge-protection etc features, compliant with GB/T17626.5 forth grade, working temperature range is -40℃~70℃; apparently, this camera is mainly designed for outdoor video surveillance application.

After removing the top cover, you can find a big metal Fin sink which firmly attached to the main board, this special heat dissipation design can greatly reduce the working temperature of the camera, also ensuring the camera’s stability. 

In terms of peripheral interface, the camera includes BNC, DC36V, 7CH alarm input, 2CH alarm output, 1CH audio input, 1CH audio output, FC + RJ45 Ethernet port design, also including microSDHC/TF card slot built-in, supporting up to 128G mciroSD/SDHC/SDXC memory card. On this point, this camera can be suitable far (optical fiber) and short (Ethernet) network transmission, easy to networking, eliminating the need for optical fiber transmitter.

2# 360 degree smart stitching technology

The 8 independent lens adopting 2-megapixel starlight low illumination CMOS image sensor, employing focal length=4.0/F=1.8 fixed lens, can see eight different direction to achieve horizontal 360 degree, vertical 180 degree panoramic surround viewing angle.

This camera support original image and 360 degree panoramic two different viewing method. Under the original viewing mode, the client produce 2 array, 4 array 8 pictures maintaining 6:16 aspect ratio with 2-megapixel resolution, every picture has no distortion. In 360 degree panoramic viewing mode, the camera will stitch eight pictures to present a 360 degree panoramic picture. 

Most importantly, Hikvision implant 3D intelligent control in camera software, using the mouse can stitch image to circle, ring, bowl etc different shapes, also support rotation in any angle, simultaneously offer no distortion region picture. Moreover, 3D intelligent control also can zoom in and out image to magnify image. Through using 8 lens combination, Hikvision DS-2DP1636-D can achieve total 16 megapixel resolution ultra HD, real-time, no blind spot video surveillance.

3# Starlight excellent low light performance

This HD panoramic camera offer automatic IR-CUT switching function, under 3D noise reduction, AGC etc image processing technology, it can achieve 0.001Lux low light performance. In order to test its low light performance, we put the camera into a dark box, also enable the switching mode to Auto, with the decreased illumination, the camera keeps adjust image brightness, saturation, contrast to output optimum image. When camera switches to B/W mode, the B/W image keeps clean.
