Hisilicon is one of leading multimedia ARM SoC solution providers, the company's SoCs are widely used in DVRs, network cameras, NVRs, smartphones etc products. Ambarella, Hisilicon, Texas Instrument are three pioneers in today's global HDTV multimedia industry. Since Hisilicon products are high quality and affordable, Hisilicon SoCs are mainly targeted to middle and low-end market.
Currently, Hisilicon SoCs are designed for DVRs and NVRs including Hi3536, Hi3531, Hi3521, Hi3520D. All of them can be used as the core processor for both DVRs and 720p/1080p NVRs. Among them, Hi3536 is the latest SoC that adopted powerful ARM Cortex A17 Quard-core @ main frequency 1.4GHz processor, embedded with H.265/HEVC video compression standard. It's the core engine of your H.265 network video recorders. Moreover, you may find some DVRs/NVRs are based on Hi3515, Hi3535, Hi3798M SoCs.
Hi3536 is a professional high-end SoC targeted for the multi-channel HD or D1 NVR. The Hi3536 provides a high-performance A17 processor, a video decoding engine (a maximum of 16x1080p decoding complying with various protocols), a high-performance video/graphics processing engine (various complicated graphics processing algorithms), and dual-channel HD outputs. These features enable the Hi3536 to provide high-quality images. In addition, the Hi3536 integrates various peripheral interfaces to meet differentiated customer requirements for functionality, features, and image quality, while reducing the eBOM cost.

Hi3531 is the high performance SoC, which supports 16 channel@D1 or 8 channel @ 960H/720p simultaneous encoding and decoding, when it works in NVRs, it offer 8 channel @ 720p or 4 channel @ 1080p video decoding, since it's unnecessary to decode network video stream, a NVR based on Hi3531 may support more than 16 channel video streams. In terms of DVR/NVR, decoding capability means how many video streams can playback simultaneously on the device.
Hi3531 is a professional high-performance SoC designed for multi-channel D1 and HD DVR and NVR. With the embedded high-performance dual-core A9 processor, H264 codec engine (supporting a maximum of 5-channel 1080p real-time codec complying with multiple protocols), and dedicated TOE network acceleration module, the Hi3531 meets the rising demand for HD and network applications. The Hi3531 also provides outstanding video pre-processing and post-processing features, various codec algorithms, and multi-channel HD output capability. These features guarantee users a high-quality image experience. In addition, the Hi3531 supports multiple integrated peripheral interfaces to meet customer requirements for functionality, features, and image quality, while reducing the cost. By using the dedicated video cascade technology, Hi3531s and Hi3532s can be cascaded to provide superior encoding and decoding capabilities.
