Hikvision 1080p Outdoor Dome PoE Security Camera TearDown/Repair

In this article, we disassemble the dome security camera from Hikvision, the model number DS-IPC-T12H-IA. This security camera adopts dome design, compact size and it's ideal for indoor and outdoor video surveillance applications. The camera meets IP66 rated weatherproof standard to be used in outdoor environment. It comes with a 4mm board lens and support both DC12V and PoE *802.3af) power input. Herein we disassemble the product to show you its internal structure and design.

We can find two bags of silica gel desiccant which are used to absorb moisture inside the camera.  If your security camera encounter foggy image problem, you can also put silica gel desiccant inside the camera to solve it. 

Thie camera support audio monitoring and recording, we can find the microphone on its front cover.  The Infrared LED directly contacts the zinc alloy, which greatly help for heat dissipation.

When security camera operates in 24/7 manner, the interal temperature is very high, both zinc alloy metal and high-durable capacitor design ensures the hardware operates properly.  Additionally, we find a  12V fuse protector on the main-board which providing short-circuit/over voltage/over current protection for the circuit.

We can find a tiny button battery on the main-board, all Hikvision IP cameras include this design, and many other brands don't have it. The button battery enables the camera to keep the date and time record/data, even when the camera is not Internet conected, the camera still can have right date and time record. Without button battery, IP cameras rely on network/internet connection to have the right date time data, otherwise it will become the factory date and time such as 1970, 00:00.

The RTL8201F-VD-CG implements all 10/100M Ethernet Physical-layer functions including the Physical Coding Sublayer (PCS), Physical Medium Attachment (PMA), Twisted Pair Physical Medium Dependent Sublayer (TP-PMD), 10Base-TX Encoder/Decoder, and Twisted-Pair Media Access Unit (TPMAU). The RTL8201F-VD-CG also supports auto MDIX.
