H42 is a 1/4-inch progressive scan CMOS image sensor from SOI. SOI or Silicon Optronics, Inc. is a Taiwanese stock listed company founded in May 2004. The company specializes in manufacturing Area sensor portfolio & Linear sensor portfolio CMOS image sensors; Area sensor are widely used in smart phones, tablets and PCs. Liner sensor serves the market for document scanners, multi-functional printers (MFPs), barcode scanners, and fax machines.
H42’s full model name is JX-H42, according to the brief introduction of JX-H42, this image sensor is the upgraded version of its predecessor JX-H22. JX-H42 is a 1MP HD 720p raw sensor, designed for the popular 1/4” optical format lenses used in many IP cameras, CCTV, and HD analog systems. It uses an improved SOI 3.0um pixel technology, delivers up to 60fps through industry standard DVP or MIPI output, and has many programmable and automatic functions and controls standard in SOI’s raw sensors.
Targeting to low-end market, H42 CMOS image sensor has been used in some cheap HD analog cameras and IP cameras. For example, you can find very cheap 720p HD (AHD/CVI/TVI) camera that based on HDI8901 + JX-H42 CMOS image sensor solution.
