APC CMOS Image Sensor

Sony will release 24MP 4K2K 30fps Image Sensor with SLVS-EC Interface

Intending to cater the increasing demands for higher image resolution from consumer electronics market, Sony expects to release several CMOS image sensors supporting the latest SLVS-EC interface.

APS-C CMOS image sensor was the first sensor which supporting SLVS-EC interface, it was launched in Q4, 2016. This image sensor delivers 24-megapixel performance and can output 4K2K 30fps video, it also adopts the 3.91um pixel per unit circuit techniques design enables the single lens/micro-lens camera to capture 4K2K video footage.

35mm (Full-frame) Sensor is expected to launched in 2018, 24-megapixel CMOS image sensor will also support SLVS-EC interface, many manufacturers show the interest to this sensor, Full-frame 24MP CMOS image sensor also supports 5.92um pixel size with excellent light sensitivity, Sony tries to use this sensor to its cameras, but currently there are few image processor can handle high frame speed video with the 4K2K resolution, in the early stage, Sony has to develop its own DSP to integrate with the new sensor.

Note: SLVS-EC stands for Scalable Low Voltage Signaling Embedded Clock. SLVS-EC is the new interface technology. By using this technology, it's possible to realize the following new application worlds. Full frame is used for an image sensor format which is the same size as 35mm format film.
