OmniVision OV2718

Full HD 1080p IP Camera Hi3516C + OV2718

According to the recent press release by OmniVision, the company is cooperating with Hisilicon to offer Full HD 1080p IP camera module that based on the latest Hi3516C-V200 + OV2718 hardware design. This is another achievement after the company successfully cooperated with Grain Media to introduce the OV2718 + GM8136S. Omnivision will demonstrate the OV2718 + Hi3516C-V200, OV2718 + GM8135S, OV2718 + Vatics M3C etc solution during ISC West 2016 in Las Vegas from April 5-8.

OV2718 is OmniVision's 1/2.9-inch 2.1 megapixel progressive scan CMOS image sensor that replaces its predecessor - OV2710. Adopting the OV2718, the Hi3516C-V200 captures full high definition 1920x1080p video at 30 frames per second with high dynamic range (HDR) mode, built on advanced 2.8-micron OmniBSI-2™ pixel architecture,OV2718 can deliver best-in-class low-light sensitivity.

Hi3516C-V200 is the upgrade version of existing Hi3516C, the Hi3516C offers 1080p@30fps video encoding, while supports 90° or 270° rotation and lens distortion correction, 3D noise reduction, image stabilizer, anti-flicker etc image enhancement. These innovative features enable the Hi3516C to meet requirements of different surveillance applications. It fully supports 3A algorithms, which allow customers to design different types of IP cameras including the IP AF zoom module. Hi3516C-V200 enables advanced security applications such as motion detection, perimeter defense, and video diagnosis with an integrated IVE, the OV2718 utilizes OmniVision's in-pixel HDR technology to capture crisp, clear images and video when recording in high- and low-light environments.

The Hi3516C-V200 with OV2718-enabled HD and HDR capabilities is currently sampling and is expected to enter volume production in the second quarter of 2016.

By the way, OmniVision announces OV9755 CameraChip HD image sensor for mainstream security, smart home, and IP cameras. The power-efficient sensor is based on 3.75um OmniPixel3-HS pixel. The 3.75um pixel is said to enable best-in-class low-light performance at 43Ke-/lux-sec and less than 0.2 lux SNR1 (the luminance value for a signal to noise ratio of 1:1). The OV9755 is currently in volume production.
