Wyze Smart Doorbell

Teardown Wyze 1080p Smart Doorbell based on Ingenic T31

Many months ago, we got some Wyze smart doorbells, they are engineering samples derived from the Ingenic laboratory in Beijing. Comparing with conventional smart doorbells, Wyze smart doorbell is very small, its size as small as a doorbell button, I reckon that this makes it easy to be suitable for upgrade of the existing door chime system for American/Canadian houses. You may wonder what its internal structure looks like, so here we teardown the device to get to know its electric parts.

The front product has two major parts including the doorbell button and the camera. Unlike similar products, it doesn’t have PIR motion sensor. Wyze logo is in the middle between them, the logo will turn on when motion detection occurs.

The back of product has the power input interfaces, removing the rubber, you can find the microUSB port which also can be used to power on the device. Underneath the microUSB, there are two screws which should connect to the AC16~24V.

Unscrewing screws and removing the back plastic, we can see the internal design. Wyze smart doorbell utilizes the Ingenic T31 SoC hardware solution. Ingenic T31 is a video surveillance dedicated ARM CPU, it adopts dual-core architecture, speed reaches 1.5GHz, has built-in 512M bit DDR2 RAM memory, supporting maximum 2592x2048 resolution (5-Megapixel).

Wyze Smart Doorbell Dual Board Layers

The smart doorbell includes dual board layers, the main board includes lens module, Ingenic T31 SoC and Wi-Fi module. We can find GND, TX, RX marks on the board, this is a series port for debugging.
