A brief introduction of ONVIF Device Test Tool

ONVIF is the open standard that established by Axis, Bosch, and Sony. This standard allows network cameras to connect with third-party software and hardware from over 200 companies like Dahua, Hikvision, Sony, Vivotek, Samsung, and Cisco.

ONVIF Device Test Tool - is an official tool from ONVIF organization, users can use this tool to search, test, debug ONVIF compliant network devices. This tool only can be used by ONVIF Members and may not be redistributed in any way. 

The introduction about this tool from ONVIF: ONVIF Device Test Tool allows hardware and software-based clients such as video management systems, building management systems, physical security information management (PSIM) systems to be tested for conformance to ONVIF profile specifications. The Device Test Tool determines conformance to the mandatory requirements of Profiles S, G and C.

1. Device Search

ONVIF Device Test Tool - Search

If network devices are compliant with ONVIF, they will list in found list. Choose device in list, click "Check", you can see device hardware information.

Note: some network devices may require authorization, must input user name and password.

2. Basic Function

ONVIF Device Test Tool - Media Info

Click [Debug] > choose Authentication [Digest] > [Media] > [GET] to get device media information. You can select video streams, typically first vide stream is main stream, second video stream is sub-stream.

3. PTZ Control

ONVIF Device Test Tool - PTZ Control

Click [PTZ] > [Get URLs] > check [Continuous Move], adjust VX, VY to rotate camera, Vzoom to zoom in/out.
